AISHWARYA

After an excruciating wait, we finally get a glimpse of Hrithik and Aishwarya In Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodhaa Akbar. The couple does indeed look like every bit of royalty and keep watching this space for the video trailer in coming days. Jodhaa Akbar Release Date Confirmed As 25th January, 2008 Ashutosh Gowariker and UTV have finally (stress on finally) have decided on a release date for JODHAA AKBAR. Expect the epic movie to hit the theaters on 25th January, 2008. “The change of release date is due to the fact that JODHAA AKBAR has an extremely demanding post-production schedule,” the statement adds. Jodhaa-Akbar is garnering a lot of critical acclaim at the Cannes Film festival, which doesn’t surprise me ,considering it’s directed by the brilliant Ashutosh Gowariker. In fact Ashutosh Gowariker also made it to Variety’s list of the 60 most important people to watch out at Cannes ’07.

The film has been produced UTV and Ashutosh Gowariker Productions and they were overwhelmed by the response generated by the 2-minute promo showcases at Cannes. Says Sunita Gowariker, “The reactions were amazing. Buyers for Germany, France and South Africa were very excited. Representatives from Venice and Rome were keen that JODHAA-AKBAR be showcased at their festivals.” Bollywood continues its new found love affair with the Cannes Festival! UTV has confirmed that the highly anticipated Jodha Akbar and the not so highly anticipated Goal will be showcased in Cannes first!

Says UTV marketing and sales vice president Siddharth Roy Kapur, "Indian films have always raised the curiosity factor in the west. The new wave of Indian cinema has been widely acknowledged and welcomed across the globe, which is a great positive for us. This year, we would unveiling two of our movies, both of which have been positioned as international projects with a universal appeal." Other films to be showcased include; Swades, Pradeep Sarkar's Parineeta, Mahesh Manjrekar's Viruddh, Priyadarshan's Chup Chup Ke, Farhan Akhtar's Don, Vishal Bharadwaj's Blue Umbrella and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti. Now that is an impressive list and as usual we salute UTV for going an extra mile to promote Good Hindi Cinema!

~~Tasveer~~
Mujse mat pooch ki kyun aankh jhuka li maine,
teri tasveer thi jo tujhse chupa li maine,
jis pe likha tha ki tu mere muqaddar mein nahi,
apne maathe ki woh tehreer mita li meine,
har janm sabko yahaan sachha pyaar kahaan milta hai,
teri chaahat mein to umr bita li meine,
mujhko jaane kahaan ehsaas mere le jaayein,
waqt ke haathon se ek nazm utha li meine,
ghere rehti hai mujhe ek anokhi khushbu,
teri yaadon se har ek saans saja li meine,
jiske sheron ko woh sunke bahut roya tha,
bas wohi ek ghazal sabse chupa li meine.
***
~~Zindagi~~
lamha lamha zindagi ka battor raha hai
bikhri hui duniya ko battor raha hai
khwab jo kabhi pure nahi ho sakte
aaj un tute khawab ko jor raha hai
geeli aankhon ke behte paani se
apne hi daman ko kar sharabor raha hai
Kitne hi rahon pe phoolon pe chal
aaj kaaton se muh mor raha hai
Kalam ki siayi khatam hone par
katre ke lie dil nichor raha hai
"kamal" kuch hi pal ki to hai zindagi
to aaj maut ko kyon kar door raha hai
***
~~Daaman~~
youn na mujhko dekh tera dil pighal na jaaye
mere aansooyon se tera daaman jal na jaaye
woh mujhse phir mila hai aaj khwaabon mein
ae khudaya kahin meri neend khul na jaaye
poocha na kar sab ke saamne meri kahani
kabhi tera naam hothon se nikal na jaaye
jee bhar ke dekh lo "KaMaL" ko tum sanam
kya pata phir zindagi ki shaam dhal na jaaye
***
~~Chiraag mein~~
jab koi junoon aata hai dimaag mein
apna khoon daal deta hoon chiraag mein
aik chehra ban jaata hai meri aahon se
aik soorat chhupi huii hai dil ke daag mein
dard ke siwaa mujhko milaa kuch bhi nahin
maine dil lagaaya tha khushiyon ki laag mein
lapton mein mujhko dekh kar mayous hote hain
jhoonk to dete hain mere khat woh aag mein
kaanton se apna daaman bhar ke laaya hoon
mil gaya tha aik shakhs phoolon ke baag mein
***

~~banaa diya~~
khoon se rangeen deewar-o-dar banaa diya
zara sa haath maine zakhmon se utthaa diya
teri yaadon ne dastak jab bhi dil pe di
aik aah bhar lee aik aansoo bahaa diya
cheekh-te hain dil ke chhalle naam-e-marham pe
rog kaise tumne ye dil ko lagaa diya
phir bhi deta hai tum hi ko dil duaayen
mana ke tune mujhe khaak mein milaa diya
baitha hoon jaise lutt gaya ho dilli ka taaj
aaj maine tera aakhiri khat bhi jalaa diya
woh chehre ko duppatte mein chhuppaye chal diye
"Reader Name" ka ek sheyr maine kya sunaa diya

The wedding of actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai may not be held in Rajasthan's Jodhpur city due to shortage of hotel rooms, and the new possible venues could be Jaipur or Gwalior, informed sources said. The sources said Jodhpur was found unsuitable since March is the peak tourism season in the desert state. The Bachchans had earlier planned to host the marriage at the grand Umaid Bhavan Palace here. According to sources in Umaid Bhavan Palace, Bollywood's first family has decided to shift the venue to Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh or Jaipur. The marriage is expected to take place March 19. "They want to hold the wedding ceremonies in a heritage property. So they are now looking for a city that can provide them with the required setting. Gwalior and Jaipur seem to be the frontrunners," a hotel source told IANS. Travel industry experts, however, say that finding the required numbers of rooms in Jaipur in March would also be very difficult because of tourist rush. Even foreign tourists are desperate for rooms in Rajasthan now. "It would not be easy for anyone to get rooms in March. We are being forced to change itineraries for our foreign clients this month due to shortage of rooms," said Navendu Goswami, a tour operator. Amitabh Bachchan had earlier sent couple of his close friends to Jodhpur to finalise the hotel bookings in Umaid Bhavan as well as four other hotels. They wanted to book these hotels for a period of three days from March 18. As directed by astrologers, the Bachchan family is keen that Abhishek and Aishwarya tie the knot as soon as possible. Umaid Bhavan, however, is currently all set to play host to the wedding parties of Liz Hurley and Arun Nayar. Hurley and Nayar married in England March 3 after which they will host celebrations in Mumbai and Jodhpur. The couple arrived in Mumbai Monday. The couple have booked the hotel from March 7-10.
